Sunday April 9 is Palm Sunday and there will be a Rally for Justice for Refugees in Perth.

It is supported by UnionsWA, alongside the Churches and many community groups.

Unionists for Refugees are inviting union members to participate on the day.

Unionists for Refugees believe refugees are union business. Scapegoating of refugees by successive governments has caused division among working people. The detention of refugees has also empowered exploitative companies such as Serco to undermine working conditions. Governments that give themselves vast powers to detain refugees have historically also given themselves powers to crush collective actions by workers.

It will be great to see a lot of Union banners on Palm Sunday. There will also be a ‘Unionists for Refugees’ banner for unionists to march behind.

All unionists are invited to get involved on the day – so bring out your banners!
