Local Government (LG) and Municipal Employees (ME)

Our Local Government members work together to ensure that local services, facilities and infrastructure are maintained and made available to Western Australians.

The ASU has coverage of all Local Government workers with the exception of nurses. Some of the roles and work areas that are covered within this division are:

Our Municipal members are the Local Government Council workers that the public most often see in action as they utilise their skills to maintain and build infrastructure provided by councils.

The ASU has coverage of all outside workers employed by Local Government Council. This is known as the ME division because historically, the award that they were employed under was known as the Municipal Employees Award. This includes roles such as:
